A decanter centrifuge (also known as a horizontal screw centrifuge) is a continuous, high-capacity solid-liquid separation device widely used in industrial scenarios. It features a horizontal, rotating drum and a coaxial screw conveyor that rotates at a slightly different speed from the drum. When materials are fed into the drum, the high centrifugal force (generated by drum speeds of 2,000-6,000 rpm) pushes solid particles to the drum wall to form a sediment. The screw conveyor then continuously scrapes the sediment and discharges it through the solid outlet, while the separated clear liquid is discharged from the liquid outlet at the other end. It excels at handling materials with high solid content, high viscosity, or difficult filtration—such as sludge, ore pulp, and fermentation broths—and is a core equipment in industries like environmental protection (sludge dewatering), mining, chemical engineering, food processing, and biopharmaceuticals.
